Two property tax bills
The City of Savannah explains that Chatham County residents within the city limits are required to pay both county and city property taxes. When you check tax status before a sale, check both.
Historic review
In Savannah's historic districts, new construction and most renovations are reviewed by historic preservation staff at the Metropolitan Planning Commission. A buyer planning changes will ask about it.
Permits
The City's Development Services Department permits and inspects new construction within the city limits.
Close the water account
The city warns that an account holder remains liable for water use until service is transferred or disconnected, even if no longer living at or using the property. Transfer it at closing.
